TO START

If you are interested in our services and think you may qualify, start by requesting an appointment through our website.

BEFORE YOU COME

After your appointment has been scheduled, you will receive an email from your counselor with intake paperwork for you to submit online. This paperwork will take about 15 minutes to complete and is the first step for your counselor to get to know you and understand your goals for seeking counseling.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We know that the decision to enter counseling can be difficult and takes courage. If you are new to counseling or wonder what it would be like to come to Sanctuary, here are a few things to expect:

  • It's normal to feel a little nervous and apprehensive before your first session. Your counselor will be glad to answer any questions you may have about the counseling process, his or her education and experience, or any concerns you may have about the process in order for you to determine if our services are right for you.

  • Expect to work. In order for counseling to be successful, it will require an active effort on your part.

  • Expect a sense of disequilibrium. Professional counseling services often involve discussing aspects of your life and your family history, which may provoke uncomfortable feelings such as sadness, anger, loneliness, and helplessness. This however, can be a desirable step in your healing process.
